Cheryl Cole's heartbreak over troubled brother
20 Nov 2008
GIRLS ALOUD star CHERYL COLE is hiding a secret heartbreak - her troubled brother has reportedly refused to accept her offer to pay for rehab treatment so he can battle his alcohol problems.
Cole, whose popularity has soared in the U.K. since she was signed as a judge on TV talent show The X Factor, is devastated by the alleged addiction of her older sibling Andrew Tweedy.
The 28-year-old has been in front of British courts 50 times in relation to alcohol-induced assaults and criminal behaviour, according to Britain's Daily Mail newspaper.
But Cole is struggling to come to terms with her brother's wayward behaviour, especially since he is said to have spurned her offer to pay $45,000 (30,000) for special treatment to battle his demons.
And Tweedy dealt the singer a further blow when he accepted $75,000 (50,000) from a U.K. tabloid to reveal the secrets behind his drug and alcohol hell. But the star is determined to see her brother through this tumultuous period.
A source tells Britain's Now magazine, "She's not angry with him, she's angry that the paper gave him 50,000 rather than paying for him to go into rehab."
