Katie Holmes has reportedly turned down the chance to be nominated for an Oscar.

Producers of the last film the actress appeared in, Thank You For Smoking, wanted to put her forward for next year's Academy awards.

But her representatives said no, meaning it is unlikely she will be among the nominees that will be announced in January.

The New York Post reports: "Fox Searchlight Pictures wanted to include her name for a possible Oscar nod on the screener of 'Thank You for Smoking' sent to Academy members - but Holmes' camp 'respectfully declined' the offer."

She plays an investigative reporter in the film about the smoking industry.

Katie, 27, is set to marry Tom Cruise, 44, in Rome on Saturday.

He reportedly got producers to axe sex scenes from the 2005 comedy before it was first screened.
