They let the wearer feel like they are floating mid-air. The singer and two partners applied for a patent for his "method and means for creating anti-gravity illusion", a new website reveals. Jacko is just one of a galaxy of stars who have come up with wacky inventions. The Google Patents website reveals that actors Marlon Brando and Jamie Lee Curtis have also applied to license their inventions in the past. Jackson was issued Patent number 5,255,452 in 1993 the shoe that attaches to a hitch on a stage by the heel and allows the wearer to lean forward as if they are suspended in air, according to a report in the New York Post. Hollywood legend Marlon Brando got Patent No. 6,441,286 in 2002 for a device that helps tighten the head of a bongo drum. The patent came about two years before the death of the Oscar winner, who had been a drum student of Tito Puente at a young age, the newspaper reports. Rocker Eddie Van Halen was granted patent number 4,656,917 in mid 1980s for a "musical instrument support," which allows would-be guitarists to hold their instruments horizontally, like a serving tray. And actress Jamie Lee Curtis got a patent in 1988 for a new and improved baby nappy, which comes with a sanitary wipe tucked inside. Former US President Abraham Lincoln came up with a way of freeing boats from low water with a large crane-like device designed for "buoying vessels over shoals" in 1849. And current New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg tried his hands at inventing in 2004, when he and his media company were issued a patent for "ornamental design for a telephone handset." Huckleberry Finn writer Mark Twain also tried to design a better bra stap, the site reveals. The information on the site comes from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Patents issued in the United States are public domain government information. |
