Now, the former maid she assaulted with a mobile phone is now suing her. The temperamental supermodel is already facing five days of community service in New York after pleading guilty to assaulting Ana Scolavino earlier this week. At the time of the incident last March she denied injuring the maid and called her a thieving, erratic employee bent on extorting money from her. Now the 39-year-old has fully turned the tables on Campbell. As well as suing over "serious" injuries from the incident, she is also claiming Campbell defamed her in those very statements. The model threw a crystal-studded BlackBerry at the 39-year-old last March after accusing her of stealing a pair of jeans. After the incident came to light, she said of Scolavino: "She is sadly mistaken if she thinks she can extract money from me by concocting lies by recycling old stories. "I have asked my lawyer to look into filing both theft and extortion charges against her." I n court papers filed against Campbell, lawyers for Scolavino say the statements constitute libel and slander, adding they were made with the "full knowledge of their false and malicious nature". Scolavino charges that she was also "seriously injured" in the incident and is seeking damages on both counts. Campbell was sentenced to five days of community service, two days of anger management courses and ordered to pay Scolavino's $362.32 medical bills by a New York court. Her lawyer asked the court not to give her the same punishment as singer Boy George, who was hounded by paparazzi as he swept the streets of the city as part of a community service. But she has been warned she will have no choice over the nature of the punishment. In 1998, Naomi's assistant sued the model for threatening to throw her from a car. The catwalk beauty admitted the offence and underwent treatment for anger management. |
