Duffy was "star struck" as she was interviewed by Whoopi Goldberg
30 Oct 2008
Insisting her movie 'Sister Act' was her biggest musical influence!
The 'Mercy' star insisted Whoopi's 1992 comedy featuring gospel singing nuns was the first time she fell in love with the music that would change her life.
And another of Whoopi's hit movies played a key role, as Duffy told the actress: "Also - this is me in a Whoopi moment - the song Unchained Melody that was on the film 'Ghost'."
The chart-topper said meeting Whoopi on TV chat show The View was a surreal experience for her because of the life-altering role her movies played.
"Actually this is a bit weird sitting here - I'm getting a bit star struck," she said. She insisted: "My first introduction to soul music was believe it or not 'Sister Act'. We only had four TV channels in Wales and 'Sister Act' made it onto the TV and that was really my first introduction to that sort of music.
Whoopi blushed and looked totally shocked. "I like that but how ... how ... why?" she asked.
The star then performed her tune 'Stepping Stone'.
