Ronan Keating: 'gay video is beautiful'
25 Nov 2008
BOYZONE star RONAN KEATING has defended the band's music video for new track BETTER after it was criticised for featuring a gay couple.
The Irish pop group became the first boyband ever to show homosexuality in one of their promos. Their promo for the new single stars openly gay bandmember Stephen Gately getting close to a male actor.
The move was slammed by Reverend David McCullough, minister of the Dromore Reformed Presbytarian Church in Northern Ireland, who claimed it sent "a deadly
message to young people".
But Keating has dismissed the criticism, insisting the video is "beautiful". He says, "It's unbelievable for someone in their position to say things like that in this day and age. It's a beautiful video."
